Training and Socializing
Our puppies are born, raised and live in our home as part of the family along with all our cavaliers. We start crate training and spend time each day interacting one on one with the puppies socializing each pup from the litter. Cavs enjoy being a part of the family and family’s activities, enjoy meeting people, cheerfully interact with other small dogs, and can be quite entertaining when playing with one of their own. It is essential to commit to socializing your Cav puppy so that it can confidently be what it is, a Cav! Cavs are considered intelligent, attentive by nature, and eager to please. This makes them easy to train but be aware they do not respond well to a negative approach. Your role is to be confident, consistent, and always use positive reinforcement training methods. If you are new to this or would like to learn a few new tricks, I recommend tuning in to the AKC TV series, AKC Training Tips. Hosted by expert trainer, Kathy Santo. The first skill she covers is House Training. You may need it, potty training your puppy is a good place to start. AKC TV: Sill 1 House Training
